About me
I grew up in the seaside town of Tenby in Wales, which provides endless inspiration with its colourful houses and natural beauty. This has influenced me to get creative from a very young age, forever happy with some coloured pencils and a sketch pad.
In 2013 I attended Coleg Sir Gar in Carmarthen, Wales for my foundation diploma. This was amazing opportunity to explore many different visual languages and work with lecturers who had a wealth of knowledge on each material. I loved the chance to experiment and begin my visual journey and it lead me on to do my degree in illustration in Cardiff, Wales.
Since graduating in 2017 I decided to travel and see some more of the world. Not only was this invaluable life experience but in 2019 I got to immerse myself in the different art traditions and rich cultures of the places I explored. This has had a lasting effect on my visual language, incorporating vibrant colours into the majority of my work.
This amazing adventure came to a sudden halt due to COVID, and the contrast was very stark for me. I had to discover new ways to make the mundane become exciting so I found myself drawn to capturing everyday objects. I added vibrant colours to simple still life scenes to bring some joy into a very troubling time for many people. My visuals to this day tend to focus around food and still life as I also love the storytelling element of this kind of work.
I moved to Canada in 2022 and continue my love for discovering art traditions and how this is woven into first nations culture. Since mid 2023, I've began to work with more traditional media and am excited to see how my visual language will evolve over time.
